Lovers through Time & Space
In times when relationships are preferred to be shallow and function as objectively as any product bought with efficiency warranties, talk about transcendent love and soul connections that defy space and time, are certainly not a fad.
People want happiness. Money, food, joyful moments, and sex are included in the merry package humanity has been seeking since life began on this planet. The quality of the package, though, might change accordingly to the level of consciousness achieved by the referred people.
Two thousand years ago, a guy should relieve his stress watching some folks be eaten by lions in some arena, and he could also alleviate his tension by having sex with any woman he had a right over, or could pay for, and even receive one as a favor from a fellow who had himself plenty of them.
Everything totally legal. As moral and decent as the mindset of that era stated.
Today we, as a civilization, still maintain the same habits — just most people (hopefully) enjoy slaughter on games, and the women thing, well, you better check her country, religion, culture, education, grew up and professional status up before negotiating a one night stand, but, besides that, the world hasn’t changed so much at all.
Nevertheless, on the counter flux of mankind, there are some individuals who seemingly have roots in other planets, since they just don’t fit the official mating habits of Earth — they insist on searching for more. They yearn for something it isn’t even proved to exist: a soul connection. We can not weight souls on labs, and yet, that ethereal thing we perceive as our identity, our uniqueness, is eager — since we understand the meaning of the word ‘love’ — to find not just one, but THE significant bond that is going to make all other aspects of our lives develop upon the rightest scenario.
Sometimes rightest scape us; our beloveds die before we have a chance to build a life together, or we believe we rather live as those demi-dead people around us because too much happiness is not for us, but for somebody else who is more inclined to dare the standardized rules of surface dating.
However, opposing our common sense, people who are too short, too fat, too clumsy, far from clever, miles away from popular, and as dull as your income find love. Not tender love as granny’s or the unrequited love of ‘nosey Adam’ or ‘toothy Amy’ from high school (who happened to be the only left available to engage in a relationship with us after we’re heading 40’s), but TRUE, HOLLYWOOD KIND OF LOVE.
FABULOUS stories, full of magical details and touching insights that make not only the lovers who live it, but everyone else who gets to know their story wonder if maybe there is something more between heaven and Earth. Something with the hidden power to trace a lover’s destiny.
In Asian culture, we learn about Akai-ito, a red thread linking two people who are fated to meet no matter what. In Japan is said that even if a person is allowed to use their free will to discharge, opt-out, break or entangle it to a point of rupture of the thread, in the end, the red link will be there to connect the two people who are meant to be together.
The Akai-ito is a legend credited to the power of gods, and one thing we know for sure: those gods certainly are masters in serendipitous encounters.
A brief search about the topic on the Internet will present you with some quite interesting stories of people who are definitely set for each other from the nursery — or even beyond that.
For those who believe in past or parallel lives, there’s also plenty of stories of couples who recognize themselves from a previous life together. I suggest the study of the case of Shanti Devi, an Indian girl who was portrayed in a movie called Manika (1986), among many many others, officially based on true stories or not, after all, we all know Life copies Art and not all screenwriters state where their inspirations come from.
Despite religious beliefs, I think is clear to most people that, provided the opportunity, of course, we would reach for the ones we love, life after life, on and on and on... It doesn’t require much of a Science fiction kind of mind or a fantasy taste; it just how feelings go: they always seek for the ultimate lasting love they have known of.
If you truly love someone, you will try to be with that person somehow.
It’s a simple truth for our spirits (if you believe you have or are one), but not for societies.
I have always been fond of tales of special couples, those rare pairs of beings who manage to say yes not to the doubtful institution called marriage, but to what I believe is the ultimate journey one may experience: connection to another human soul.
I have met my share of wonderful stories, like the bachelor brother of a friend of mine, who decided last minute to go to a samba party his colleagues at work had organized, although he hated samba. At some point, the music was too much for him to bear and he decided to look for some fresh air — and silence — outside the house. By the fence, he saw a lady at the neighbour's house. During their small talk, she told him she was a vegetarian and almost had given up attending the barbecue her colleagues at work had organized that day. She came outside to have some fresh air because the meat smell was making her sick… and so they met.
There are amazing predestined lovers' stories involving dreams and astral travel encounters between people who would meet physically days, weeks, or months ahead. There are reported cases of couples who dreamed of each other for years before they actually met (one was even broadcasted by a Brazilian Television Channel regarding two people who were born in different countries with no physical or familial connection at all, just their dreams and intuition telling both they would meet someone overseas). I won’t mention episodes involving clairvoyants and prophecies because it’s easy to debunk them with psychological self-programming or subconsciously induced choices, but … you know, those things also exist, believe it or not.
No matter how science is disgusted by the pieces of evidence, that kind of thing really happens. We might don’t understand why and how. But it happens. It is crazy, uh? But it happens.
From tales in the bible or the Vedas, from historical celebrities to your cousins, from Johnny and June, Paul and Joanne, Jennifer and Jonathan, Mulder and Scully, fact or fiction, there’s something so magical about a meaningful couple that makes you never forget them. They can be questioned, but they can’t be forgotten. They are like living Taj Mahals.
Because eternally is all and all, on and on, made of Love and the inspiration for it.
And now I must confess that I’m writing this because it also happens to me, and I want you to know you don’t have to dismiss it just because nobody else understands its, or values it. Love like in the stars doesn’t happen for everyone. Remember the standard values of this world. But it might be happening with you because you are made from such alloy that’s not really from here and you are living as an earthling, as an inspirational tool. Dare to live your dreams so that others can then live up to theirs, too.
There’s something else I want to share with you:
The story of the ‘not samba guy plus vegetarian girl’ doesn’t end at that point though. They faced a quite interesting saga that led them from a decision for an only child to eventually parenting actually three kids. Oh, they were not irresponsible; they planned. Yes. But all the careful methods in the world couldn't change the fact that 3 was the number for them. Not even a vasectomy, if you’re questioning.
I have a personal theory that special couples meet not only for their enjoyment, but because some new people need to be born into this world through them. Special children born from special parents who gave a chance to real love. I like to think those kids drink from a sacred source at the womb who was filled by pure dreams coming true. I imagined those babies becoming ready for the outside world after being nurtured in a pool of the purest ‘yesses’ to all that’s cozy, ecstatic, blissful, possible, impossible, caring, cheerful, and warm. I think they come with some extra battery and they may get further in finding solutions when no one else can.
It’s just a personal creed, but it makes me happy to spread the idea.
After all, since I’m writing to beg you to take a chance on deep connection, in some way I’m also urging you to create the means and ways through which the children who may have the power to save us to be born.
Maybe you’ll never have children, or you adopt them, or you will do something for the elderly or the animals. There’s plenty of stuff for people who LOVE to be engaged in.
Because the era of objecting is clearly over, and whatever chance we might have, it must be based on strong, healthy, powerful, and passionate connection.
You might start by daring to love like in the stars.
Like that way, deep inside your very core, you know you could.
